The Council of Ministers has agreed its position on the new Common Fisheries Policy: the discard ban has survived, though fish will still be thrown back. Now they enter final negotiations with the European Parliament - the end is in sight!
Remember our last massive - and successful - Twitter campaign in February which stopped the French from derailing the discard ban proposals?
Well Europe's Fisheries Ministers are meeting again tomorrow (on Tuesday 12 June) for yet another make or break meeting on the future of Europe's fisheries.
This time, they're laying down their red lines, and attempting to agree a common position on all the key aspects of the new Common Fisheries Policy. It will be very hard to get them to retreat from whatever they decide on Tuesday.
Which is why TODAY Fish Fight and ClientEarth have taken out full page adverts in The Times, Le Monde (in France), El Pais (in Spain) and Rzeczpospolita (in Poland), to remind Europe's key fisheries ministers that WE ARE WATCHING THEM!

Now its up to all of you to prove it!
Tweet and re-tweet the ministers using #fishfight and let them know that we care about the future of our fish stocks, our fishing communities, and that we want to see an end to the crazy practice of discards!
If enough of us show our support, they will have to listen. We have to make sure we don't wake up on Wedsnesday 13th to find that the battle has been lost ...
We need your help to remind the EU ministers from Germany, Spain, Poland and France that we are watching them today! So get tweeting using the buttons below!
Thank you ALL for your continued support,
Hugh
